Insights Workshops 2017

In the Fall of 2017 we invited two groups of thoughtful Nova Scotians to take a sneak peek at the preliminary findings of our upcoming Quality of Life Index, scheduled for release in March 2018.

One group gathered at Saint Mary’s and the other at Membertou. We tried to make the invitation list as diverse as possible, with folks on hand from all stages of the experience spectrum representing a range of interests across the business, academia, government and the social sector. One prerequisite was being willing to get a little “nerdy” about facts and figures as they relate to the big issues we all care about.

As we hoped (dreamed?), the response was electric. Through engaged conversations –  across differences in age, experience, and interests – we found a level of commonality, shared intent and goodwill that left us more excited than ever about the potential of this approach to encourage new ways of working together.

Our research partners from the Canadian Index of Wellbeing were on hand to answer questions about methodology and gather our “on-the-ground” insights into the factors influencing province-wide trends.

We’re looking forward to opening the door to more rich and productive conversations across the province this Spring about who we are now as a people and who we can be in the future.
